The
Web Book Sale Program
What is the
Web Book Sale Program?
The
Web Book Sale Program is a simple, free, no-obligation program that enables
individuals to easily and profitably
sell their unwanted books and other media on the Internet.
Do you represent a library, library friends group, school or other
non-profit organization? If so, please click
here.
How much does it
cost to participate?
Nothing!
There
are no sign-up, monthly or membership fees to worry about. Just send us
your books and other media, and we will send you a monthly check for
your sales!
How much will I
make?
The
Web
Book Sale Program payment schedule is simple and clear: You will
receive 50%
of the proceeds from the sale
of your books and other media! The only expense item that is deducted
from the customer sales price is the Internet marketplace’s commission fee on the sale.
For example,
Amazon charges a 15% commission on all sales. So a book that sells for
$100 on Amazon would earn you 50% x $85 ($100 less Amazon’s $15
commission) = $42.50!
How often will I
get paid?
Every month,
Web Book Sale will mail you a statement showing all of your currently listed
media items and all of your sales completed during the prior month. We will
also mail you a check for your earnings that month, with no minimum and
no month-to-month earnings hold-overs!
How does shipping
work?

follow these simple steps:

What
types of media sell for high value?
The
following is a list of helpful hints for selecting the items that will
sell for the highest value:

-
In books, non-fiction is almost
always better than fiction.
-
Popular fiction books are almost
always worthless (unless it is a current best seller). If you have a
current best seller, it still has value. Last year’s or last decade’s
best seller is guaranteed to be worthless.
-
In books, the more esoteric the subject,
the better. In CDs, classical, jazz, foreign and indie bands tend to be
valuable. In DVDs, current releases, independent and foreign studio titles do
well. For VHS tapes, anything not available in DVD format can be
valuable.
-
University Press, small press,
criticism, monographs and other scholarly books are great.
-
African-American studies, genealogy,
golf, military, woodworking, needle work, gardening, hunting, fishing,
boating, hiking, specialty cookbooks and other unusual “hobby” topic
books are great.
-
Fantasy titles and manga
(Japanese-style cartoons) are often quite good.
-
Religion and spirituality (especially
new age and occult) books can often be valuable.
-
Any technical book, such as
engineering, forestry, agriculture, medicine, mathematics, chemistry can
be very good. Textbooks tend to lose their value quickly, and become
almost worthless if a newer edition has been published.
-
Books-on-tape, Books-on-CD and Large
Print editions hold their value long after the regular print edition has
become worthless.
-
Reference books can be very good.
Please do not send general knowledge encyclopedias or English-only
dictionaries. Foreign language-to-English dictionaries,
bibliographic sources, dictionaries on esoteric subjects (like
music, engineering, botany, etc.), specialty encyclopedias, foreign
language sources, and other reference works can all be very
valuable.
-
Anything “unusual” is good. Most
“common” titles are worthless, regardless of format (book, CD, DVD,
etc.).
Do I have to
pre-sort the material I send?
No! Just pack
your boxes full of acceptable media, and we will take it
from there.
What happens to
unacceptable or unsold books?
Books that do
not meet our selling criteria, or are not sold within a reasonable
period of time (normally 1 year) are either donated to the
St. Vincent
de Paul Society in Atlanta, Georgia or are appropriately recycled. No
book that we receive will ever find its way into a landfill.
